Tulum, Riviera Maya, Mexico 2012

Tulum is another popular tourist destination located in Riviera Maya and just 1.5 hour drive from Cancun. Tulum was one of the last cities inhabited and built by the Mayans and also was a major city port for their civilization.

I saw many times pictures of Tulum's ruins in travel magazines and always wanted to go there and see it on my own. And here it is, my dream came true.

From the parking lot to the ruins site you will be delivered by the tractor or you can just walk.

At the gate you can hire a bilingual guide, he will show you around and tell short history about ruins.

There are many palm trees with coconuts there, i saw many coconuts on the ground as well. I live in California where there are also many palm trees but without coconuts. So it was kind of cool for me to see this.

The park has a nice white sand beach. So don't forget to bring a swimming suit.

9.
It gives you an amazing view of Caribbean Sea from the cliff.

You can see iguanas pretty often. They probably like to get tan on the sun.

This is the entrance to the Mayan city. This arch is about 4.5 feet. According to this i can assume that Mayan people were very short.

Back at the parking lot you will see a lot of kiosks with souvenirs. Also, here you can try local cuisine. I tried fresh coconut. Locals keep them chilled in coolers and sell them to thirsty tourists like me. This lady lovely cut a hole for the straw in the coconut with machete.

Iguanas are very friendly and are not afraid of tourists at all.

I found this place very attractive, and i suggest you to go and see it on your own.
