ATV Jungle Tour, Riviera Maya, Mexico 2012

During my trip to Cancun i went on ATV Jungle tour near Playa del Carmen. It was a guided tour around the jungle with stops at Cenote and cave.

On the picture below is my Mexican tour guide riding ATV with one hand at 35 mph and speaking on the phone at the same time.

It was a really cool race as that day there weren't any other tourists and this guy gave us an individual tour. The entire jungle was ours and i could try to squeeze max speed out of 4 wheel bike. There were so many turns there so if this dude didn't guide us we could definitely get lost.

After a good race he took us to a Cenote.

3.
Sorry for gloomy pictures. It was dark there and my old camera could not do better.

4.
The water in  Cenote is crystal clear. You can see everything in there. It seems like it is few feet deep but it's not, i tried to reach the bottom but it was impossible.

The tour guide said that underwater cave takes its beginning from this Cenote and no one even knows how deep it is.

Then after a short ride we went to the cave where Mayans made sacrificial offering. Mayan people believed that there was a gate to another world from this cave.

10.
Also he said that a few months earlier a group of people came here with expedition to discover underwater caves which go deep down.  They filmed for a TV program like "Disovery".

11.
There were many bats in that cave. I saw them hanging between stalactites.

  1. Wow, seeing all your post makes me jealous about the places you’ve been. This one seems to one of the most incredible adventure you’ve had. It looks so exhilarating to race in the jungle with those ATVs. I love the underwater caves; I’ve been to one and the bats and rock formations are just fascinating. =)
