Zion National Park, Utah

I will never forget this adventure in Zion National Park. There was so much to see: narrow canyons, steep cliffs and unpredictable weather - everything added to the challenge and adventure of my visit.

But before i continue my story i want to thank Sergei Yavorskiy for providing these pictures from our trip to Zion Park and sharing with you.

The weather is pretty hot during summer days in Zion. People come to the creek  to cool down in chilled water.

Emerald Pools Trail.

6.
The cliff looks like someone cut it with a knife. I can't describe how massive this cliff is. You must be there to realize it.

7.
Prickly pear cactus.

8.
I love this picture.

9.
In the Village you can buy a lock with your name on it at the gift shop and leave it on the chain.

10.
The nature is so beautiful and colorful here.

14.
Zion Park has a big variety of wild plants.

15.
The Narrows Trail.

16.
The Narrows Trail is a 16 mile hike along the Virgin River in Zion Canyon. There are 2 ways to do this hike. First: it is a walk in the bottom of the canyon and back, this is the way we did it. You can walk as far as you want but have to leave time to come back the same day. Second: it's a 2 day hike from bottom to top  or top to bottom with overnight stopover. You will need a permit for this one.

17.
It's just impossible to stay dry on this trail. 60% of the hike you will be walking and sometime swimming in the river. For this hike you will need water shoes and a stick.

This trail reminded me a lot of Havasupai Trail  at Grand Canyon.

Here Zion Canyon's walls sometime rise up to 2000 feet. And at the same time can be 20-30 feet wide.

28.
Overall we went about 8 miles round trip and that was unforgettable experience.

29.
During summer Park is closed for private vehicles. Tourists can reach any destination and trails by taking a free shuttle around the park during the day.

30.
Another hike we did was Angels Landing Trail.  From the bottom we had to climbe to the top of this cliff which is 5785 feet.

31.
Duration of this trail is about 4 hours and it's only 5.5 miles round trip.

32.
First two miles of the trail has asphalt and is well maintained .

33.

34.
But the rest, you need to climb on a narrow sandstone ridge....

35.
This is me sitting on the cliff. Under my feet is a 4000 feet drop down.

36.
This is my friend,  you can understand true scale value on this picture. Take a look at the bus on the bottom of the canyon. It seems like a toy there.

39.
The only support from falling down there are these chains. Similar chains i used when i was climbing down Mooney Falls at Grand Canyon.

40.
41.
Unbelievable colors of Zion Canyon. You can see layers of years of these cliffs.

Also we got a little friend there. Unfortunately i didn't have any nuts to feed him so i tried to fool  it with a little stone and it worked.
